Consultant Craniofacial and Cosmetic Surgeon, Mr John Blythe together with Consultant Neurosurgeon, Mr James Barber work together at Barts Health NHS Trust to reconstruct patients skulls with patient specific implants (cranioplasties) after suffering skull defects following trauma and after urgent life saving brain haemorrhage. The combined care provided not only allows patients to have a normal looking skull but many of the ageing features around the face related to the primary trauma and surgery are corrected. Patients complete treatment with both bone and soft tissue defects reconstructed.  The treatment is based on the latest technologies and computer assisted design and manufacturer (CAD-CAM). This treatment is available beyond the NHS and later in 2018, Mr Blythe and Mr Barber will offer independent patients and international patients with skull defects the opportunity for correction.
